“UP” Musical Clock

This was a labor of love I made for my girlfriend (now wife!) as a gift for our first Christmas together. We both loved the Pixar movie “UP” and in some ways our relationship is based in our love of Disney and what that particular story represents. We even lighly themed our wedding after the movie. I made this replica of Carl & Ellie’s house by laying out the general design from frames from the movie and what general design documents I could find online. I then began using a laser cutter for some parts to make a rough frame for the house and making and painting the rest of the pieces to add by hand. There are around 700 pieces including real glass windows, LED lighting circuits, and a functional clock and custom chime circuit that plays a music box rendition the “UP” theme every hour. It took me a little over 3 months to complete as I had limited time and only hand tools to work with.
